Africa

The tour

Our plan is to travel for 10 months from March 2024 until January 2025. During that time, we'll be taking in parts of Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Africa and finally, back to Australia, home after more than ten years living in Hong Kong.

The difficulty in planning a trip like this is not just where to go, it's how long to spend in each location. We know where we want to start, India and we know where we'll be ending; Sydney, January 2025.

Since we started planning, the itinerary has changed and will no doubt, keep changing; if there's one lesson everyone must learn on any travel adventure, it's to be flexible.

Highlights
  • Giraffe Manor
  • Maasai Mara safari
  • Victoria Falls
  • Kruger National Park
  • Blue Train to Cape Town
  • Whale watching in Hermanos

Tour Plan

Kenya

We begin our two month African adventure in Kenya, with a bucket-list stay at the famous Giraffe Manor. Located in the middle of a secluded forest in Nairobi, this boutique stay includes one of the world's most unforgettable breakfasts with its resident herd of giraffes. Then we head out in to the wilderness for the first of our game safaris.

Zimbabwe

Anyone who has dreamed of going to Africa has Victoria Falls on their bucket list. This extraordinary natural wonder straddles Zimbabwe and Zambia and is the largest waterfall in the world.

Botswana

Then it's onto the Okovango Delta, a pulsing wetland and the world's largest inland Delta. Interestingly, the Okavango is one of a very few large inland delta systems without an outlet to the sea. Instead, its waters drain instead into the harsh desert sands of the Kalahari Basin. The Okovango offers one of the best nature watching opportunities in Africa and is home to some of the world's largest endangered mammals including both black and white rhinos.

South Africa

South Africa has long been our collective bucket-lists. From Kruger National Park to the stunning beauty of the The Western Cape, there's so much to see and do, a few weeks is unlikely to be long enough. Learning about South Africa's history will also be high on the agenda, with a visit to the Apartheid Museum and of course, Robben Island.
